I visited Nepal for the first time last year and was struck by the palpable sense of pride and progress in the people as a whole, and among the women in particular. Everywhere we went, from the heart of Kathmandu to rural villages, we saw young girls in braids and uniforms learning English, learning computer skills, we heard of the women banding together to protect and increase their rights. It is organizations like the Women's Foundation that are the driving force behind this change. You have my heartfelt support in all of your endeavors, and my thanks for the contribution you make to all womenkind.

I am one of the founding members of the Women’s Foundation of Nepal. And I am part of the team of people continuing to raise awareness of the difficult situations still being experienced by the women of Nepal. It is very hard to see women and children facing painful situations in their daily lives including lack of food, security, education, protection etc. This should not happening to them. As human beings they should have equal opportunity in every aspect of their lives. Please help to end the violence and injustice and create equality, peace and social justice for all. Let them have their human rights.

As an independent and self-sufficient female who has volunteered with the Women's Foundation in Nepal, I can attest to how important it is that the new Nepalese Constitution contain the necessary clauses to give women and girls their freedom to make their own life decisions and to explore their personalities and dreams.

No woman or child is safe until all women and children are safe.

To the framers of Nepal's new constitution: Yes, I think you should guarantee equal rights for women and basic protection for children and yes, I know my own country defeated an equal rights amendment. For a more perfect world intolerant practices anywhere are to be abhorred and, for a start, prohibited by legal fiat.

I read these stories of how women and children are treated. How completely terrible that they must suffer so much. This is completely wrong and immoral! You must put an end to such poor treatment of women and children. Please make laws protecting them and educate people living in Nepal about how all humans must be treated with respect.

Please they desrve an better life. Act now for our children.

These women and children have the right to have their human rights and have them respected. Action to protect them and make that protection a reality is very vital. They have suffered horribly and this kind of suffering should not be happening to them. This is a heartbreaking lifestyle they are forced to live. Their lives are precious and they are undeserving of this treatment. Please end their suffering and show the world you care and believe all life to be precious. .

When it is, as in most places, that women are responsible for the well-being of children there is no sense in that woman's rights being owned by someone else -- a man or anyone else.
Canada
I would like to urge all of the concerned humanitarian organizations in the world to look at Nepal and its underlying issues, especially the violation of human rights - particularly children and women issues. I hope this petition will help to protect women's and children's right to live freely as they want to be.
. . . more comments to be added as they arrive.
